When you're an Indie artist, you walk the lonely road. When you're Vocalist-Songwriter-Musician-Producer Sonya Kahn you become inspired by your emotions and write a song about it! "LONELY ROAD" is the new full production performance music video single from her album, "NEW BEGINNING."
The 'Lonely Road' is a song about the cerebral, emotional and spiritual journey traveled by the human soul when desiring to be understood on all levels in the creative life process. 'Lonely Road' is written, composed, arranged, performed and produced by Sonya Kahn and is on her album, 'NEW BEGINNING.' 01/16/09 - "Sabre Dance" Video Exciting news - Sonya Kahn's first breakout video "Sabre Dance" from her Debut Album "New Beginning" will be released this week, you can view it on her youtube channel, myspace page and here on her official website. 09/03/2008 - Here
is another review by BigRockFinish So, while listening to the album that really is beginning to remind me of the hollywood starlets who are gracing the music scene as I type, I am only imagining that as long as Miss Sonya has a good publicist, it doesn't matter WHAT the album sounds like, as long as she looks the part. But I'd be selling the artist short, which isn't fair. For one thing, the first website I go to to read up on what everyone else thinks of her? Sonya is a concert pianist. You don't see that a lot with pop stars. Someone who I can very honestly vouch for that will be able to read music. This makes it exciting. CD Baby (I get tired of Myspace every so
often) is listing alternative, rock/pop and "created by a concert pianist." The photos in the liner notes
don't disagree, as there is a photo of Sonya sitting at a piano. Two songs
in, however, reveal little of the classical piano I had grown to… tolerate
in the eight years I had played in my younger years. The more the album
plays, the more I hear piano/keyboards and the more I believe that Sonya
Kahn
The diversity in New Beginning
I'm off on a road trip soon. And this is one album that will be making the trip with me. Considering my car doesn't have the spiffy feature of being an mp3 player, nor does it play mp3 cd's (my mom's car does though) I do enjoy the fact that New Beginning is also 13 full tracks, as opposed to some 6 track albums. Not that there's anything WRONG with it, but 13 songs makes for less cd changes to be necessary, and while driving at 140km/h down a highway, it's best to not attempt it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 08/13/2008 - Check out The Celebrity Cafe review of Sonya's New Beginning ---------------------------------------------------------------------
07/20/2008 - New Beginning Album Review on Wildy's World New Beginning is the sort of album that could establish Kahn as a Rock Diva, ala Celine Dion with a bit harder of an edge. Don't Go Away is the type of song that marketers build campaigns around, and just might be the class of this classy album. Friend is a bittersweet and angry ode friendship lost, and allows Kahn to display the power and vulnerability her voice can convey. Hunter opens up the pipes for a blues inflected rock tune that wants to border on heavy metal. Don't Go Away is a plaintive plea and perhaps the most gorgeous melody on the album. In short, New Beginning shows the incredibly dynamic range of sound that Sonya Kahn can create with her voice. Here we see a potential superstar in the making. New Beginning rocks, coos, soothes, and shakes you for all its worth. You'll keep coming back for more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
06/09/2008 - Venuszine Magazine review of "New Beginning New Beginning is entirely Kahn’s blood, sweat, and tears. From the album’s first rock anthem, “Why Justify,” she shows the range of her voice and her pleasant eloquence. Songs like “Without You” and “Sabre Dance” show her classical piano training, while “Friend” has a more radio-friendly vibe, resembling work from Midwest-bred and pop chart–friendly band Evanescence. “Hunter” is a string-edged ballad, yet “Party Song” is a heavy rocknroll piece. Listening to New Beginning is like listening to the soundtrack of a Broadway musical. Tracks are arranged fluidly, and Kahn’s passionate voice rings with vigor. During “Don’t Go Away,” I can imagine her in the scene: begging the show’s lead male character to stay with her. I nearly expect him to take over the song and duet with her before the chorus line breaks out in support, the strings begin to boom from the orchestra pit, and backup dancers pour from behind the curtains! I’m getting ahead of myself. Here's the bottom line: Sonya Kahn is a talented and motivated artist. This record will be interpreted in many ways, and Kahn should be prepared for a negative comment or two. But her sound is so pure and guileless that it makes this record worth a listen. Something tells me that if she does hear negative feedback, it won’t stop her; as she sings on the final track, "I was born to walk this road alone / Full of thorns but I’ll make it on my own."
